What’s the best book about Mother Cabrini? How can I learn more about her? What’s real and what’s not in the movie?  We’ve received a ton of inquiries since the CABRINI movie launched.

The best way to learn is to visit the Shrine, where you can learn about Mother Cabrini and get to know her. Our Executive Director hosts a free weekly talk each Sunday at noon. If you’re interested in bringing a group to visit at another time, see our pilgrimage form under the VISIT tab.

Books for Adults

In Weakness, Strength by Segundo Galilea is an excellent short biography of Mother Cabrini that weaves together her history and spirituality.

Mother Cabrini: Italian Immigrant of the Century by Sr. Mary Louise Sullivan, MSC is a longer history, focusing primarily on Mother Cabrini’s early life and her missions in the United States. This is the book for history buffs!

Journal of a Trusting Heart is a compilation of Mother Cabrini’s personal retreat notes that is intense and rich in insight.

Too Small a World by Theodore Maynard is a classic biography originally published in 1945. It is available in several editions.

There are several free resources here on our web site as well. The Spiritual Wisdom of St. Frances Cabrini for Difficult Times is a short devotional that you are welcome to print and copy freely. Thinking About Compassion with Mother Cabrini is an online flip book aimed at helping you grow to be more like her.
