St. Frances Cabrini's Canonization Mass
This concert presents music used at the canonization Mass for Frances Xavier Cabrini, the first U.S. citizen to be named a saint, as well as other choral pieces sung in her honor. It includes rarely-performed Gregorian chant, songs sung at votive Masses for Mother Cabrini, and songs she herself sang in her lifetime.
The concert will be performed by the Majesta Chanters and guest artists. Mother Cabrini died in 1917 and was canonized on July 7, 1946. This concert will be held on her Feast Day, Monday, November 13.
The Majesta Chanters are led by Paul Novosel, who earned his MA in Ritual Chant and Song from the University of Limerick, Ireland. Mr. Novosel studied chant under Catherine Sergent of Discantus, and is a keyboardist and author.
